The Oxford Mail and our sister title The Oxford Times have joined forces with Radley College to launch Bright Ideas – a new competition celebrating creativity in Oxfordshire.

We are asking children in Years 4 and 5 from local primary schools to unlock their imagination and create a response to the theme of Keys.

Our celebrity judge is Oxford-born Jamie Laing, who attended Radley College. Jamie, who famously appeared on Made in Chelsea and Strictly Come Dancing, now runs several of his own businesses, including the much-loved sweet company, Candy Kittens.

Jamie Laing said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be asked to judge this amazing competition.

“Children have the best ideas and I’m so pleased that the Oxford Times and my old school are teaming up to champion creativity in my hometown of Oxford.

“I’m looking for imagination, talent and flair, and I can’t wait to see all the entries.”

Children can submit whatever feels most personal or appropriate to them.

They may wish to write a story, poem or song, or make a video, design project, artwork or game.

Shortlisted entries will be invited to a presentation morning at Radley College on Saturday, June 29, where the winner will receive a trophy and £100 voucher.

The competition is open to primary school children in Years 4 and 5.

Bright Ideas has been sponsored by Radley College, an independent boarding school for boys aged 13-18.

The College was recently named School of the Year by Tatler.

“Oxford is probably the most famous city in the world for education and a natural home for innovation and creativity.

“This competition helps to cement that status and I know that Year 4 and Year 5 children across the county will rise to the challenge.
