POPPY collectors will be at Sainsbury’s in Bicester until Saturday, November 8, raising money for the Royal British Legion.
The collection, which this year marks the centenary of the beginning of the First World War, is taking place in the retailer’s 20th year of support for the legion.
The supermarket chain helped raise £4.5m for the charity last year and is selling a range of poppy-inspired products this year, with all profits going to the legion.
Manager of the Bicester store Vince Brimble said: “The Bicester community has been so supportive in the past.
Our top stories
“This year we commemorate the start of the First World War and our 20th year of partnership with the Royal British Legion. I’d like to thank our customers for their kind donations so far and we look forward to all the activity we have planned to support this fantastic cause.”
After Armistice Day customers will be able to recycle their poppies in the store, with a recycling point available from November 12 to 24.
All the poppies collected will be returned to the legion either to help make new poppies or to be sold again to raise more funds.
