A COUPLE who run a hot and cold food van in Bicester want people to nominate someone who may be in need of a dinner this Christmas.
Jan and John Hall, who were born and raised in the town, will be providing Christmas dinners for those who might not get one on Christmas Day from their van, Jan’s Snack Shack.

The couple are looking for volunteers to help deliver the meals on the day and also need people to nominate those in their community who they can serve.
This will be the second year doing the initiative from the van in Market Square - which is usually based on Telford Road at the John Nicholls building supplies shop - after last year’s success of providing 54 dinners for those in need.
Mr Hall, who is 61, said: “Last year a lot of people didn’t understand what we were doing. But this year there is more interest especially from the care community so we are doing it again.
“We had more than 20 volunteers. Some met up on Christmas evening and peeled vegetables ready for the morning and a lovely lady cooked roast potatoes and parsnips for us.
“It was really heart warming.”

On the day, the festive dinner will be cooked and prepared at the van and volunteers will collect them before delivering to people in Bicester.
Mr Hall has received a good response from members of the community with people willing to volunteer to deliver meals, but he now needs people to nominate those to receive the dinners.
Anyone can be put forward such as the disabled, an elderly neighbour, a homeless person or a low income family.
He said: “A lot us know someone who is in need. We want people to nominate someone who they think would appreciate a Christmas dinner being delivered to them.
“Be aware of people in need and who are unlikely to be getting a dinner.”

Last year, members of the community donated clothes, mince pies and other Christmas treats which they used to create goody bags to take to people too.
