BICESTER is currently home to a number of building projects taking place.

Here are five developments where building has started or is almost completed:

1. Graven Hill

Homes are still being built at the Graven Hill development in the south of the town.

Up to 1,900 self-build and custom houses will be built over 10 years with the first phase of works which begun in summer 2016.

Homes will be surrounded by green spaces including woodland, allotments and a network of cycle and footpaths.

The site was featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs TV programme in 2019.

2. Catalyst Bicester

Groundworks have started off the Wendlebury Road next to the A41 for a new business development and David Lloyd Health Club.

Planning permission was granted for the 6,600sqm site by Cherwell District Council last year and includes stand-alone buildings and a wetland nature reserve.

The David Lloyd Health Club will contain a sports hall, indoor tennis courts, fitness studios, fully equipped gym, indoor swimming pool, café, changing facilities and spa.

3. Launton Mews

Building is under way on a new housing estate on Blackthorn Road in Launton, near Bicester.

Housebuilder Mulberry Homes has launched its latest development in Oxfordshire with a collection of 66 ‘luxury’ two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes.

The developer was asked to stop building last month when it was revealed planning conditions had not yet been satisfied by the council.

Officers are closely monitoring construction while discussions continue to resolve issues.

4. Rail underbridge

A new bridge under a railway in the north west of Bicester is being built.

It is part of the plan to build a new main road under the bridge in the future to replace Howes Lane and is the first phase of the Bicester A4095 road realignment scheme.

The project will also help to support the North West Bicester eco-town development, delivering up to 6,000 homes and related community infrastructure.

A separate underpass is also being built through the railway embankment to creat a new route for pedestrians and cyclists.
