A FAMILY has been left traumatised after witnessing two dogs brutally kill their beloved pet cat.
Charmaine Plowman and her 14-year-old daughter Emma watched on in horror as little Luna was attacked in the front garden of their home on the Glory Farm Estate in Bicester at around 7.30 on Friday, November 17.
The fluffy white-and-ginger moggy sadly died from her injuries with Thames Valley Police launching an investigation and a witness appeal.
Charmaine said: "It was horrible to see and to have to deal with. You just don't think these things happen to you, you see and hear them on TV or the radio.
"And now because of the incident, I have a daughter who has been traumatised by it."
Recalling the terrifying ordeal, Charmaine said she heard loud dog barks outside the front of their home, and she went outside to see what was going on.
Upon opening the door, she witnessed two dogs - described as Pointers or Pinschers - setting upon her cat.
The care assistant said she screamed at the dogs to get off two-year-old Luna at which point her daughter came running to the door.
Seconds later, the dogs had killed the defenseless animal.
Charmaine said: "It has affected us all but more so [my daughter]. She'll be alright for one minute and then the next minute, she gets really teary. She misses her cat."
Sadly, by the time Charmaine's husband Mike had arrived at the front door, it was too late.
He said he witnessed two large dogs running back to their owner who stood at the end of Blackburn Walk by the Skimmingdish Lane cycle lane and pedestrian path.
He said: "I could see [the dog owner] was struggling to get the dogs back on to their leads and I shouted at him to come here. He looked straight at me then walked quickly away with the dogs.”
Charmaine wants anyone with information to step forward.
“It could have been a child,” she said.
“It was bad enough because it was our pet cat.”
Police are appealing for anyone who have security cameras in the area between Blackburn Walk, Skimmingdish Lane, Rochford Gardens and Coopers Green to check their footage around the time of the incident.
The dogs have been described as reddish-brown Pointers or Pinscher and the man is described as white, aged around 30, 5ft 6in tall and wearing a woolly hat.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information or who witnessed the incident should call 101, quoting reference number 43210521381.”
