An NHS worker’s car was stolen and scrapped in an area she says has “no security in place.”
Vania Barroso, a nursing student who works for the NHS on a flexible basis, had her car stolen from the car park behind her flat on Manorsfield Road, Bicester.
Miss Barroso noticed her Volkswagen Golf was missing on Wednesday, June 22, upon which she immediately called Thames Valley Police.
She gave the officer her license plate number, only to be told that her car had been scrapped on Thursday, June 16.
Miss Barroso said: “The area myself and my partner live in is known for antisocial behaviour.
“We are always dealing with people dumping sofas, or tables, which I have previously reported.
“There’s been a succession of events, which has ended up with my car being stolen, and it’s all because there’s no security in place.”
Miss Barroso said she had contacted the company who monitor the car park and had been told that the facility had no CCTV.

The parking area is instead fitted with ANPR cameras, which only capture photographs of vehicles entering and exiting the car park.
Further, the company clarified in an email to Miss Barroso that as her car was an authorised vehicle to use Manorsfield Road car park, they did not have any photographs of the car.
The nursing student’s property provider, Tobin Jones Block Management, said in an email to Miss Barroso: “The CCTV on site that is run by us as block managers covers the pedestrian walkways to the residential units and not the car park itself.
“Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to assist in terms of the CCTV and although there are signs on site, we cannot guarantee that cameras will cover all areas nor assist in any police matters.”
Miss Barroso also said she had left the logbook in her car, and believes the thief may have used this when taking the car to be scrapped.
A Thames Valley Police Spokesperson said: “We received a report of a theft of a motor vehicle in Manorsfield Road, Bicester, at around 9:15am on June 22.
“A red Volkswagen Golf was reported to have been stolen from a car park sometime after 7pm on 21 June.
“Officers launched an investigation, which found the car was scrapped on 16 June.
“Officers are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43220273117.
“Alternatively, provide information completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via its website.”
