A council has announced that its bin collection crews will be starting work earlier to avoid extreme heat.

After the Met Office warning of extremely hot temperatures for the rest of the week, Cherwell District Council (CDC) have announced that its bin collection crews will be starting work earlier than usual from Wednesday August 10 to Friday August 12, and possible beyond.

Where bin collection crews in the district would usually start their rounds at 7am, they will now be starting work at 6.30am.

This is to ensure they will have less to do during the hottest hours of the day.

CDC are asking people to put their bins and caddies out for collection by 6am.

Temperatures are expected to hit 30 degrees or more over the next few days.
