A commemoration service marking the death of the Queen will be taking place at a church.

St Edburg’s Church, Bicester, will be hosting a civic commemoration service marking the passing of the late monarch.

The event will take place on Friday, September 16 at 7.30pm.

Speaking on the Queen, Bicester Mayor Alex Thrupp said: “It was with great sorrow that I heard about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

“I always thought she dutifully upheld her role as a monarch. A duty that she was not directly born into, and yet ended up being our longest reigning monarch.

“Rest in peace to a lovely lady.”

For those who still wish to pay their respects, a book of condolence is open at the Garth, Bicester town council’s headquarters.
