An Oxfordshire pupil will become the first in his family to go to university after his parents immigrated from Asia.
Jia Wei Chong, a student at The Bicester School, earned a place at Oxford University following his straight A* results in maths, further maths, chemistry and physics.
He becomes the first person in his family to go to university where he will study maths.
He said: “To be honest I haven’t been thinking about them too much. I have work to do to distract myself.
“I am very pleased, once I got previous results, my teacher told me I should consider Oxford and that’s when I started checking if I could do it and I guess I could.

“My family are very happy for me. We have been working up to this. My family has immigrated across from Asia and it’s always important to get the first child into university so I’m the first in the family!”
His friend, Aidan Fitton turns 18 tomorrow (August 18) and has double to celebrate after also getting into Oxford University.
He too got straight A*s in maths, biology and chemistry and will go on to continue studying chemistry.
He said: “I wasn’t nervous at all until last night and this morning. I got up at 7:30am, had some breakfast and shower then checked my results.
“I’m delighted, my family are really happy too.
“I chose chemistry because it’s the subject I like the most, it makes the most in my head.
“I enjoy learning about it so I want to do a bit more.”
