A pub in a village near Banbury has announced its closure as it awaits a new landlord.

The owners of the Coach and Horses in Adderbury, Tony and Shani Watts, left the pub last week to enjoy their retirement.

A leaving do was held at the pub on Sunday, June 9.

In a statement posted on Monday (June 17), the owners said: "For all those that may not be aware, we sadly left the Coach and Horses Adderbury on Wednesday to enjoy our retirement.

"As far as we are currently aware the Coach and Horses is currently closed to trade whilst it awaits a new landlord to take over (we hope this won't be too long).

"We thank each and every one of you for all your support over the years, and for all the kind messages, gifts and cards we have received.

"We will miss being a part of the village."

There have been many comments from customers wishing the owners a happy retirement.

One commenter said: "We will definitely miss you both, and thank you for the fantastic food, service and humour over the years."

Another said: "You two are the best and have earned your retirement, enjoy every minute."

The Coach and Horses pub is a traditional country village pub in a 16th century building overlooking the Village Green in Adderbury.
