The Paris 2024 Olympics are kicking off today (July 26) and there are athletes from Oxfordshire among those competing for Team GB.

Below are all the athletes with Oxfordshire towns and cities in their profiles.

Jade O’Dowda, 24, who lives in Oxford will be competing on the athletics team. 

Sophie Hamilton, 23, from Banbury will be competing on the hockey team as well as Miriam Pritchard, 25, who lives in Oxford.

Kieran Bird, 24, lives in Bicester and will be competing on the swimming team.

He will be competing in the 400 metre freestyle tomorrow (July 27).

Mr Bird's mum, Mandy Bird, arrived in Paris yesterday (July 25).

She told the Oxford Mail how she is feeling ahead of seeing her son compete: "We’re super proud parents, we’re very excited for tomorrow.

"It’s lovely to be here."

Eve Stewart, 26, was born and raised in Amsterdam and now lives in Henley, and she will be competing on the rowing team.

Sholto Carnegie, 29 from Oxford will also be competing on the rowing team.

Tom Digby, 29 from Henley will also be competing on the rowing team as well as Rory Gibbs, 30, who was born in Cyprus and joined the renowned rowing programme at Oxford in 2019.
