Drivers in and around Cherwell will have 18 road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 8pm August 2 to 6am August 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 9 to junction 8a, Lane closures for maintenance work.

And a further 17 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M40, from 9pm August 5 to 5am August 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 9 to junction 10, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm August 5 to 6am August 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 10 to junction 11, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• A34, from 9pm August 7 to 6am August 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Weston on the Green, slip road and lane closures for maintenance work.

• A34, from 9.30pm August 7 to 6am August 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound to junction 9 M40, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9.30pm August 7 to 6am August 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8a to junction 10, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• A43, from 9.30pm August 7 to 6am August 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 9, exit slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority roads.

• M40, from 9.30pm August 7 to 6am August 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 9, entry slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M40, from 9.30pm August 7 to 6am August 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8a to junction 10, Lane closures for maintenance works.

• A34, from 10pm August 9 to 5am August 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 8, entry slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 10pm August 9 to 5am August 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 8a, entry slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M40, from 10.15pm August 11 to 6am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 12 to junction 11, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• M40, from 8pm August 12 to 6am August 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 11 to junction 12, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 8pm August 12 to 6am August 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 11 entry Slip, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9pm August 12 to 6am August 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Hard shoulder closure for maintenance works.

• M40, from 9pm August 12 to 6am August 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 11 to junction 10, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• A43, from 8pm August 14 to 5am August 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A43 southbound, Barley Mow to Baynards Green, Lane closure due to maintenance works.

• A34, from 8pm August 14 to 6am August 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 both directions Peartree, Lane closures for barrier work.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
