A man was bitten and scratched by a woman attempting to rob him in Oxford.

The incident happened at about 11pm on Sunday (September 15) in Magdalen Street, outside Cosmo and Wendy’s and opposite the bus stop.

Police said an argument broke out between a man and a woman as she tried to steal the bag he was holding.

She then left in a taxi and paramedics treated the man for bites and scratches to his arms and neck.

Neither person has been identified in relation to the incident, Thames Valley Police said in a statement on Friday afternoon.

The man is described by police as being of mixed race heritage or black with short black hair and a black goatee-style beard.

He was around 6ft tall, with a skinny build and aged in his 40s.

The woman is described as white with long brown hair.

Investigating officer PC Tom Hancock, who is based at Cowley police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“It is possible that some witnesses may have got on a bus to Kidlington or Bicester and so I would urge anybody who was in the area who saw what happened to contact us."
