Car retailer Evans Halshaw is set to open a new MG franchise in Banbury.

From October 1, the dealership on Southam Road will offer a full range of new and used MG cars as well as full aftercare for vehicles.

The new site will also sell the Cyberster - MGs new EV sports car - from a Cyberster lounge.

The leadership team and all employees are being retained and trained in the new MG product range.

The original MG marque was founded in Oxford in 1924.

The new MG car dealership will replace the existing Citroen Banbury store but will maintain its Citroen repair centre for cars and commercial vehicles.

Existing sales and Motability customers who want to stay with Citroen will be directed to Evans Halshaw Citroen in Bedford.

Adam Fletcher, group vice-president for Evans Halshaw, said: “This is an exciting time to open a new MG site.

"As the second franchise to open under Lithia UK, MG Banbury will continue to offer support to customers wishing to stay with Citroen or provide the transition to MG for their next new vehicle.”

Ian Faulkner, head of business for MG Banbury, added: “We are delighted to welcome a new location to MG within the Evans Halshaw roster.

"They are a great automotive brand to work with and myself and the team can’t wait to welcome them to the site.”
