Police in Oxfordshire have warned the public to avoid an area.

Thames Valley Police cars have descended on an area of Banbury following a "fear for welfare" incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We are currently on scene at a 'fear for welfare' incident on Swan Close Road, Banbury.

"Please avoid the area if possible.

"We would like to reassure you that there is no risk to the public and we will update further when we are in a position to do so."

An onlooker said: "I have just come past Tramway in Banbury and there's loads of police and ambulances.

"I think something awful has occurred and it's impacting traffic to the train station."
