A man has been jailed and banned from driving for more than seven years after pleading guilty to a number of driving offences near Bicester.

Adrian Dumitrche, aged 36, of North Parade, Derby, was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison on Monday, November 11 at Oxford Crown Court.

He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle when above the alcohol limit.

He was also disqualified from driving for seven years and five months.

At around 11.45am on June 21, Dumitrache was driving a van on the A34 near Wendlebury and drove in the wrong direction on the slip road, colliding with a number of vehicles.

A man, in his 30s, attempted to confront Dumitrache by approaching his vehicle on-foot but Dumitache attempted to drive away while the man was holding onto his van.

The man suffered a broken leg requiring surgery and ongoing treatment.

Dumitrache was arrested on the same day and charged on September 20.

Investigating officer PC Harry Welch, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I hope this sentence deters anyone thinking they can get behind the wheel whilst over the limit.

“The actions of one can have a detrimental effect on the lives of other and Dumitrache is an example of this.

“He was found with 110 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

“He seriously injured someone and put other lives in danger and I am glad that he has been convicted.

“Thames Valley’s Roads Policing department is committed to making the roads in your communities safer.”
