Oxfordshire has woken up to its first major taste of winter this year.

Snow has fallen in Oxford and across the county with the northern parts of the county seeing heaviest snowfall.

How long will the snow last?

According to today's forecast there is a high chance of sleet falling until 1pm this afternoon.

This morning is expected to be cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain. This will turn lighter and patchier in the afternoon with a chance of some hill sleet and snow.

It is a chilly day and temperatures could drop as low as -3C.

Tonight it will turn dry and clear with cold and icy conditions developing in a chilly northerly wind.

Northern parts of the UK are tipped to be among those worst hit by the wintry conditions although yellow  'be aware' warnings across parts of Britain as far down as the Midlands and Birmingham which were due to expire at 10am have been extended until 11am.
