Christmas is the season for indulgent treats, community warmth, and that unmistakable festive magic.
Let's be honest though, there’s no better place to experience it all than in a charming market town (cough cough, in Oxfordshire).
With searches for "best market towns in England" soaring by 50 per cent in the past 90 days, it’s clear that Brits are on the hunt for the perfect destination to fully embrace the Christmas spirit.
And, naturally, Oxfordshire has an abundance of charming little haunts that complement Christmas perfectly.

The staycation experts at holidaycottages.co.uk have revealed a list of the top market towns to visit this Christmas, based on various factors such as scenic winter walks, cosy pubs with roaring fires, sparkling holiday lights, likelihood of snow, search volume for ‘Christmas markets’, number of pantomimes and more.
But where in Oxfordshire is the most magical?
Bicester
The Bicester Village shopping centre in the town is arguably one of the nicest places to visit at Christmas.
From now until Christmas, the picture-perfect square will feel like a winter wonderland with various ‘snow moments’ taking place.
The venue will host a festive campaign called 'A Storybook Christmas', which will run from November 7 until January 1.
It will include six 'chapters', each offering a different experience, such as "finding the perfect gifts, getting ready for the social season, and enjoying new pop-up experiences".

The campaign will be accompanied by a transformation of the village into a "winter wonderland", complete with lights, snow canons, live performances from carol singers and gospel choirs, and a Letters for Santa service.
New food and drink options will also be available, including on the Grey Goose x Farmshop Alpine terrace, a sausage roll pop-up from the Cotswold Guy, and the first-ever Lindt Chocolate Bar in the Bicester Village Mall.
The Village Workshop will be offering a range of services, including personalised ribbon and customisable Santa sacks.
