A student at Oxford University has described fairytale-like scenes as the county woke up to beautiful blankets of fresh snow.

Oxford, Banbury, Wallingford and west Oxfordshire saw fairly heavy snowfall overnight which left parts of Oxfordshire looking like something out of a C. S. Lewis novel.

Author, speaker and founder, Eleonora Svanberg, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I'm a PhD student at @UniofOxford  and I think I'm living in a fairytale :-)

"Foxes playing around in the snow at Magdalen College this morning — absolutely magical!"

Others couldn't quite believe the images.

One said: "Now, if they came over and said "Good morning," then I would start looking for wardrobes to walk in!"

A clear reference to C. S. Lewis' masterpiece, The Chronicles of Narnia, a book series created during Lewis' time at Oxford University.

Another user said: "Oxford truly is a magical place—where even foxes seem to enjoy the beauty of the moment. Snow makes everything feel like a storybook. Savor it; these are the moments you’ll cherish forever."

Someone else commented: "You ARE living a fairy tale! What a privilege and fantastic achievement to study there".

The Narnia references came thick and fast: "In waiting for Mr. Tumnus to round the corner with his umbrella," said another.

A user also noted: "Once upon a time this was England everywhere before urban planning forgot to plan for green spaces".

Let's hope Mr Tumnus sticks around for a while, after all, it's almost Christmas.
