Four flood warnings remain in place for Oxfordshire following Storm Bert.

The impact of the storm was strongly felt across the county last week with floods closing schools, delaying transport services and doing damage to buildings.

Now over a week on from the initial impact of Storm Bert and Oxfordshire remains on alert with four flood warnings issued today (Tuesday, December 3).

Two of these concern the River Ray with Islip as well as the Heath Bridge area, including the affected Otmoor Basin areas.

The River Thames at Purley Village, Shiplake, Lower Shiplake and Wargrave are also outlined in the warnings.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council said: “There are still some flood alerts and flood warnings in place in Oxfordshire this morning.

“River levels in Oxfordshire remain at very high levels as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Bert.

“A reducing number of Environment Agency flood alerts and flood warnings are in place.”
