Christmas is generally thought of as a jolly time of year when families get together to exchange gifts.
However, for many households across the country, the joys of the festive season are not a reality with the number of families facing financial hardship expected to rise this year.
To help make the season special for every child, a number of national charities are operating toy appeals.
If you want to donate gifts to children in the UK, here is everything you need to know.

How to donate gifts and toys to children in the UK this Christmas
Several charities in the UK like the Salvation Army, Oxfam and more operate present appeals.
Oxfam
Oxfam says that donating children’s toys has "never been easier". Interested parties simply need to put the toys in a bag or box and take them to their local Oxfam shop. Items can also be donated by post for free.
Find out more on the Oxfam website.
We’ve teamed up with @EntertainerToys for a seventh year to launch The Big Toy Appeal 2024, which aims to give as many underprivileged children as possible the joy of opening a gift on Christmas Day. Salvation Army
Last year, the Salvation Army donated more than 76,000 toys to children across the UK.
The charity's Christmas Present Appeal accepts gifts until mid-December with those interested needing to find their nearest appeal to donate new, unwrapped toys and gifts.
To find your local appeal, you should contact your local Salvation Army. This can be found with a simple Google Search.
A number of local appeals operated by regional charities also exist, so it's always worth checking what's happening in your area before the big day.
