ALCHESTER duo Sarah Rendell and Jenny McBain finished second and third in the ladies’ race at the Abingdon Marathon on Sunday.
The pair were split by just one second.
Rendell came 63rd overall in 2.58.04 and McBain two positions behind.
The women’s race was won by Kate Towerton, representing Winchester & District, in 2.53.47.
l Bicester's David Kuester enjoyed gold medal success in the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group WTC Rasenkraft competition in Derby.
Competing in the age 70 and over category, the Bicester AC and Oxford City AC veteran Kuester took the title with a score of 1,786 points from three events.
It was enough to secure his victory in just the second UK competition of Rasenkraft – a sport which originated in Germany.
Kuester recorded the biggest throws in each of the three disciplines, reaching 30.78m in the 4kg hammer throw, 15.58m in the 5kg weight throw and 8.43m in the stein putt.
