BICESTER 2nd kept alive their hopes of promotion from Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 3 with a hard-earned 26-9 victory away to Windsor 3rd.
If they win at Grove 2nd in their final match on Saturday, Bicester will be promoted alongside Redingensians 4th.
Though Windsor dominated the early exchanges, Bicester’s well drilled defence kept their try line intact.
And with their backs and forwards looking more cohesive, they turned round 12-3 ahead thanks to tries from centre Sam Milburn and Alex MacDonald plus a conversion from Dave Aslett.
James Driscoll’s second and third penalties brought Windsor to within three points and the scoreline stayed at 12-9 until ten minutes from time.
But late tries from Milburn and winger Peter Howard, both converted by Aslett, not only ensured Bicester victory but also secured them the vital bonus point.
Bicester’s first XV, who were without a game last week, entertain Stow-on-the-Wold this Saturday, with the game being preceded by the president’s lunch.
Colts League result: Royal Wootton Bassett 0, Bicester Colts 52.
