ATHLETICS: Richard Gould led the way for joint hosts Alchester AC at the Andy Reading 10k.

He finished ninth in a time of 36mins 52secs, with Headington Roadrunners’ James Eve claiming victory.

Bicester AC were joint hosts for the event, which was held in support of the Hummingbird Support and Therapy Centre.

Owen Stocker and Lucy Montague won their respective boys’ and girls’ 2km races.

In the 1km competition, Bethany Wetton and Jack Green were victorious.

Chesterton were the winners of the primary school competition.

RUGBY UNION: Bicester made it six wins in a row when beating Slough 37-23 in a thrilling Southern Counties North contest.

The victory saw the visitors, who lost their opening four games, climb to fourth in the table.

Tries from Pete Howard (2) and Ollie Dawkins, with Josh Wordsworth kicking a conversion and a penalty, saw the sides locked 20-20 at the break.

Colby Short and Ignasio Lopez crossed for Slough, with Max Miles converting both and kicking two penalties.

But Bicester’s Peter Tarrega, Wordsworth, who converted his own try, and Ollie Cassidy scored in the second half to secure victory.

HOCKEY: Captain Abbie Stevens bagged a hat-trick as Bicester signed off for the Christmas break with a 5-1 win at home to Amersham & Chalfont 3rd.

The commanding victory leaves the side sixth in Trysports Three Counties League Division 1 after the first half of the season.

Stevens put Bicester ahead from a short corner, but Amersham levelled to make it 1-1 at half-time.

The hosts dominated after the break, with Stevens completing her hat-trick, while Emma Keen and Nicky Willers were also on target.

POOL: Ashton A moved level top with The Crown Inn, Twyford in Division 1 of the Bicester Advertiser League after beating their rivals 6-3.
