TANVEER Hussain scored a superb unbeaten century as Westcott earned a six-wicket victory to close to within one point of the Division 1 leaders.
On a rain-affected day, Garsington & Cowley were bowled out for 193, Uzair Ahmad top-scoring with 65, in the OCA League fixture.
Led by Hussain’s 107 not out, Westcott reached 194-4 to secure victory.
Witney Swifts fell to their second successive defeat, going down by 28 runs to Wolvercote.
Amit Borlikar took 4-20 to dismiss Swifts for 102 after Wolvercote had earlier been restricted to 130-9.
Charith Karawita shone with bat and ball to help Chipping Norton to a 78-run victory at Oxenford.
Karawita hit 49 in Chippy’s 170-9, before then taking 4-34 and Jim McGeown 3-25 to send Oxenford tumbling to 92 all out.
Faringdon picked up their first win as they beat fellow strugglers Marsh Gibbon by 52 runs.
They were dismissed for 164, Rob Brown hitting 39.
George Liddiard (3-16) and Mike Hume (3-35) then combined to bowl Marsh Gibbon out for 112.
In Division 2, leaders Stanton Harcourt suffered their second defeat of the season as they lost by 41 runs at home to East & West Hendred.
Andy Francis hit 52 in Hendred’s 151-8, Arun White taking 4-45.
White then scored 34 in Stanton’s reply, but Jon Francis took 5-30 to help dismiss the hosts for 110.
Cairns Fudge closed the gap on Stanton with a 66-run win over Kilkenny.
Martin Hanscombe struck 107 to help Fudge to 202-8 and then Anwar Pervaiz took 4-15 as Kilkenny fell for 136.
Tetsworth won a low-scoring clash at Bampton by 30 runs.
They were dismissed for just 91 batting first as Matt Williams claimed 4-11.
But Arun Patel then took 4-10 in Bampton’s reply as the home side crashed to 61 all out.
Watlington cruised to an eight-wicket win at home to Hanborough.
They restricted Hanborough to 127-8, before Hassan Khushi (54) and Steve Strong (50) led Watlington to 131-2.
Clifton Hampden were 21-2 at Wootton & Boars Hill before the match was washed out.
Lalit Chablani claimed a sensational seven-wicket haul to help Steventon to a 42-run victory at home to Oxenford 2nd in Division 4.
Steventon were bowled out for 105, before Chablani took 7-18 to dismiss Oxenford for only 63.
Garsington & Cowley 2nd beat hosts Chadlington by 48 runs in a 25 over per side game.
Garsington set 120 all out, Ace Hussain top-scoring with 46, before Zarwali Ahmadzai claimed 5-12 to restrict the home side to only 72-9.
Manoj Perera took 3-16 and then top-scored with 38 as Shrivenham saw off visitors Uffington by seven wickets, while West Ilsley cruised to a nine-wicket win over Deddington.
Deddington were shot out for 67 and then Will Carlisle hit 38 not out and Adam Barnes 30 not out in Ilsley’s 68-1.
Witney Swifts 2nd’s match at Wolvercote 2nd was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Hook Norton made it seven wins out of seven as they easily saw off hosts Marcham by eight wickets in Division 3.
The home side were quickly bowled out for 73 as Jordan Glazier took 4-15 and Max Harris 3-25, before Hooky eased to 76-2 to continue their fine start.
Brill picked up a 31-run win over Combe to go third.
Andy Wynd (67) and Andy Parke (59) helped Brill to 170-5 in a game reduced to 35 overs a side. Ben Jackson then took 4-33 as Combe fell for 139.
The matches between Broughton & North Newington and Radley and Risinghurst and Wantage were washed out.
Asala Jayasundara smashed a sensational 174 in Chipping Norton 2nd’s staggering win over Charlbury 4th.
In a match reduced to 25 overs a side, Chippy amassed a remarkable 302-3 on their way to a 178-run win in Division 7 North.
Jayasundara led the way with his unbelievable innings, before Charlbury could reply with 124-3.
Stonesfield 2nd defeated Middleton Cheney 2nd by 46 runs.
Ciaran Northwood hit 40 in Stonesfield’s 165-7, and Middleton were then bowled out for 119.
Harwell International cruised to a
nine-wicket win over Kilkenny 2nd to stay top of Division 7 South.
Dismissing Kilkenny for 115, Harwell eased to victory at 119-1.
Elsewhere, Chinnor edged past Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd by two wickets, while Bampton 2nd beat Marcham 2nd by five wickets.
In Division 5, Pete Beckley took 6-28 to help East & West Hendred 2nd to an 87-run win at Chalgrove.
Earlier, Dom McKenna (50) helped Hendred to 145 all out, before Chalgrove were shot out for only 58.
Letcombe won a low-scoring 30 over a side clash with visitors Risinghurst 2nd by three wickets.
They restricted Risinghurst to 62-7, Alex Simms taking 3-25, then edged in at 63-7.
Tetsworth 2nd beat Wolvercote 3rd by four wickets.
In Division 6, Rasika Arukgoda’s century helped Westcott 2nd to a 107-run win over Watlington 2nd.
Arukgoda struck 107 in Westcott’s 229-8 and then Gary Ellis took 5-15 as Watlington were bowled out for 122.
Kidlington 2nd saw off Hook Norton 2nd by 46 runs on the target score method.
Andy Oliver hit 87 in Kidlington’s 162-8, Thomas Reeve taking 6-25.
Chasing a revised target of 145 off 25 overs, Hooky were restricted to 98-9.
Chesterton edged past visitors Oxenford 3rd by three runs.
Christian Mann (71) helped Chesterton to 138-5, and then Oxenford were restricted to 135-7 in reply, despite 62 from Rahul Nath.
Steventon 2nd won a thriller at Dorchester 2nd by six runs.
After posting 172-7, Satish Patange (4-19) and Sam Biggs (4-37) combined well to restrict Dorchester to 166-9.
