KIERAN Bird won gold for his role in Great Britain’s 4x200m freestyle success at the European Championships.
The Bicester swimmer, 22, was part of the team to take the mixed title in Rome.
Bird helped his country finish second in the morning heats, with teammates Freya Anderson, Anna Hopkin, Matt Richards and Tom Dean securing gold ahead of France in the final.
The former Bicester Blue Fins member had a busy week in Rome, managing seventh in his individual 400m freestyle heat.
Ex-Cooper School pupil Bird also helped the men’s 4x200 freestyle team finish sixth in their final.
