The sad passing of The Queen meant racing was cancelled last weekend as we mourned an extraordinary reign and celebrated her contribution to public life.
Following a two-week break, our weekend schedule returns tonight with an 11-race all-open card starting at 6.38pm and once again we are proud to put up £500 to every winning greyhound.
The 900 Snooker Coming Soon to SportyStuffTV Open over 450-metres at 8.25pm is an intriguing contest as two greyhounds who won on opening night – Chelms Champ and Stefans Jet - go paw-to-paw with each other.
Stefans Jet was last seen when making history by winning the first race of greyhound racing’s new era at Oxford Stadium on September 2. He ran a strong first sectional to clock 27.60, which was an improvement on his two trial times (27.77 & 27.76) and starts from trap four.
Kennelmate Chelms Champ will run next door from trap three and looks a smart prospect. Mapledurham-based Chris Hamblin’s charge is improving with every run, and his opening night triumph in 27.46 looks to be a time he can improve on.
The danger to these two could come from TwoLengthsTooGud in the red jacket. Kevin Hutton’s two-year-old is yet to race competitively at Oxford but has clocked some eye-catching times behind the scenes at our trials sessions.
His latest time of 27.30 recorded on Monday was his fastest yet. A good start will be key if he is to win from the inside. Mustang Sam in the same race from trap five cannot be discounted either and will be looking to go one better than his last effort at Oxford.
Burford’s Kevin Hutton runs two more in the following US Racing from 9.45pm Every Sunday on SportyStuffTV Open at 8.45pm.
Coppice Josie broke the Oxford 450m track record when clocking 27.17 following an extraordinarily quick start a fortnight ago. She runs from trap four this time, with kennelmate Droopys Samantha next to her in three.
A reminder that racing on Saturday night begins at 7.30pm when Oi Oi Joey will be looking to light up the terraces when dropping down to A2 company in our fourth race at 8.15pm.
We hope to see you trackside then!
NAP – Coppice Josie, 8.45pm (Friday)
NB – Chelms Champ, 8.25pm (Friday)
