CHINNOR fell to their first defeat of 2023 as Plymouth Albion fought back to win in Devon.

Having led 12-7 at the break, the Oxfordshire side failed to score enough while on top, going on to lose 28-12 in National League 1.

Chinnor took the lead when Willie Ryan burrowed over for an unconverted try from close range.

Plymouth replied through Jamie Salter – Tom Putt adding the extras – but Chinnor ensured they led 12-7 at the break when Finn Theobald-Thomas found his way over, Nick Smith converting.

Despite their dominance, Chinnor were punished in the second half as Kyle Speare and George Mills crossed within two minutes of each other – Putt converting both – to give Plymouth a 21-12 lead.

The away side finished the match with 14 following a yellow card for Kieran Goss, and Speare crossed again to earn Plymouth their four-try bonus point and end the visitors’ three-match winning run.

In National League 2 East, Henley Hawks won 24-17 at Tonbridge Juddians as they leapfrogged the Kent side into fifth.

Oxford Quins beat Sutton & Epsom 67-20, while Banbury lost 51-15 at London Welsh in Regional 1 South Central.

Witney and Grove suffered home defeats in Regional 2 Tribute South Central.

In Counties 1 Tribute Southern North, Chinnor III won 99-0 at home to Gosford All Blacks, while Bicester and Wallingford beat Milton Keynes and Swindon College Old Boys respectively.
