JOSH Murphy hailed his Oxford United teammates after the side secured promotion to Sky Bet Championship.
Murphy was the headline hero at Wembley, with his brace the difference in United’s 2-0 win against Bolton Wanderers in the League One play-off final.
Although it was the winger’s goals that effectively won the game, Murphy was full of praise for his teammates and all the U’s backroom staff.
He said: “It’s not about me. It’s about this team, this special team, this special group. We’ve been written off so many times this season, but we’ve just got promoted.
“Credit to everyone, from players to staff, and the people behind the scenes that you don’t see.
“It’s all the hard work that everyone puts in. We had a goal this season to get promotion, and people wrote us off too many times, but we always believed in ourselves, and we’re here celebrating promotion, so it’s the best day ever.
“It’s not really sunk in yet. I just want to see everyone, all my friends and family, and loved ones.
“It’s been a tough old season, but we’ve all pulled together and got what we all wanted.”
