Oxfordshire's Abi Norgrove has been named in the England squad for the Under 19s Cricket World Cup.

Batter Norgrave and spin bowler Eve O’Neill made the squad with pace bowlers Poppy Tulloch and Daisy Gibb named as non-travelling reserves.

The tournament will take place in Malaysia following the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2023, and begins on January 18 with the final being held at the Bayuemas Oval on February 2.

Norgrove toured Sri Lanka with England U19s at the start of 2024, with fellow Vipers Ava Lee and Mary Taylor, whilst this will be the first taste of international cricket for O’Neill (16), Tulloch (18), and Gibb (18).

All four players have come through the Southern Vipers Academy via the pathways of Oxfordshire (Norgrove), Hampshire (O’Neill), Berkshire (Tulloch), and Sussex (Gibb).

Abi Norgrove (18) made her senior debut for the Vipers in the 2023 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy against Sunrisers, and made 49 in her second match against Thunder at Southport.

Eve O’Neill has been part of the Southern Vipers Academy for the previous two seasons, and went on to feature for Hampshire in their T20 competition which saw the side reach Finals Day, where she took four wickets to go with a further eight in the group stage.

Ian Cox, senior regional talent manager, said: "All four girls fully deserve their inclusion in the squad, they have worked incredibly hard both on and off the pitch to put themselves in a position to be selected and we are all incredibly proud of them.

"The opportunity to train and play with the best of their current age group will undoubtedly enhance their skill and overall development."

Richard Bedbrook, head of England Women performance pathways, added: “It is always an exciting time to be able to name an U19 World Cup squad and all those chosen, including the non-travelling reserve group, can be very proud of this achievement.

"We hope each individual takes a huge amount from the experience they are about to have and uses it to continue developing themselves as a person and a player.

“This also goes for the staff group, a number of whom across various roles are also employees of the regional teams and who will hopefully take huge amounts of experience and enjoyment from being a part of the programme.”

Tulloch was included in various Vipers 1st XI squads this year but didn’t feature in a match. For her native Berkshire, she claimed 13 wickets in the County T20 competition, with a further three coming in the 50-over competition.
