THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United saw a change in formation pay off with a 1-0 victory at home against Hull City.
JAMIE CUMMING
Made one excellent save with his feet to thwart Abdulkadir Omur when the winger was played through on goal – 7.5
BEN NELSON
Worryingly forced off just after the hour mark. The last thing U’s need is to lose yet another player to injury – 7
ELLIOTT MOORE
Looked to bring the ball into midfield on a handful of occasions in an attempt to find a different way up the pitch. BOOKED – 7.5
CIARON BROWN
Conceded possession a bit too easily at times, and was left exposed until things tightened up in the second half. BOOKED – 7

HIDDE TER AVEST
Saw a header saved late in the first half, but then got on the scoresheet with a stabbed effort in the second period. Encouraging display at both ends of the pitch. MAN OF THE MATCH – 8
WILL VAULKS
Looked a bit more composed with an extra player next to him in the midfield battle – 7
JOSH MCEACHRAN
Got on the ball more than Vaulks in midfield, and was the one more likely to try and make something happen – 7
GREG LEIGH
Struggled defensively in the first half with Mohamed Belloumi causing all sorts of problems. Had a much better second half though and produced the cross for ter Avest to score from – 7.5

A new role and formation for him to adjust to, but he worked hard and stuck to his task – 6.5

Starved of service up front and had to scrap his way for loose balls to feed on – 6.5
