OXFORD United have a plan in place should Tyler Goodrham get the call that his partner is going into labour this weekend.

The due date for the baby girl, Goodrham and his partner’s first child, is tomorrow, with the U’s hosting Millwall in a 12:30pm kick-off.

United head coach Des Buckingham joked about the couple holding off on the birth until after the Lions game.

He said: “The baby is due this weekend. There are always plans in place should that happen.

“We’re asking him and his partner to see if that can happen on Monday or Tuesday, which will be great for everybody.

“There are things in place should something happen, so that he is able to be where he needs to be.”

At the end of August, Goodrham netted a wonder strike to put the U’s 2-1 in front at home to Preston North End, and celebrated the goal by tucking the ball under his shirt and sucking his thumb, in reference to his pregnant partner and their baby.

For the goal, Goodrham collected the ball wide on the right and chopped inside Kaine Kesler-Hayden, before bending in a wonderful strike from 25 yards with his supposedly weaker left foot, as the ball veered just inside the far post.
